The Sleuthhound! is fully-functional hard disk search engine that operates like Web Search Engines! The Sleuthhound's basic principles are similar to Web Search Engine methods (AltaVista, Lycos etc.).

Before searching, The Sleuthhound! will review the folders on the hard disk and memorize the information about all words from all documents and create a Search Zone. After that, if you want to search documents, simply type the keywords into The Sleuthhound! search box and click the command Find it!

The Sleuthhound! finds the keywords in its "memory" files and shows to you the documents that contain the keywords. Since The Sleuthhound! uses modern methods of building "memory" files and searching for the information The Sleuthhound! gives you instant search processes and instant results.



The basic principle of operation is to view Search Zones before the search. Prior to the searching, The Sleuthhound! must review the folders on the hard disk (the Search Zone) and memorize the information about all the documents from set folders into its "memory" files. Those folders are called Search Zones and are viewed by The Sleuthhound! according to the set frequency scheduled.

Search Zone is space on hard disk consisting of folders where The Sleuthhound! searches for documents. Prior to the search The Sleuthhound! must review the folders on hard disk (Search Zone) and memorize the information about all the documents from folders into its "memory" files.

To set The Sleuthhound! onto folders means to order The Sleuthhound! to review the folders and creates special files(index files) that describe documents in a Search Zone.

Adding folders to a Search Zone means that The Sleuthhound! will search for the documents in the added folders only, in future.



Make your search on PC hard disk as quick and easy as an Internet Search Engine. The Sleuthhound! functions effectively and quickly, no matter what the document name is or which folder holds the document. The Sleuthhound! finds all documents in one second!

Start The Sleuthhound! from the system tray or the Desktop.

Enter the keywords you wish to search for in the box below the picture of sleuthhound.

Click the Find it! button to retrieve all documents on your hard disk that contain the keywords.

In case you don't get any results, check if your setting of the current Search Zone is correct.



Start The Sleuthhound!, and open the Search Zone Manager panel (or right click the mouse) and choose Set The Sleuthhound! on the pop-up menu.

If you use the Search Zone Manager click New to Create a new Search Zone or click Extend to extend existing Search Zone.

Use the Wizard (right click in the text box) to set The Sleuthhound! and follow the instructions.

Add into the Search Zone the most important folders and documents: My documents, for example.

Set the frequency of updating Search Zone with Search Zone Manager/Schedule.



The Sleuthhound! can automatically watch your folders and documents. Put The Sleuthhound! into your Startup folder for Windows. When you start Windows The Sleuthhound! loads itself in the system tray.

To put The Sleuthhound! on startup folder perform the following operation. Right click the mouse in the Main Window and activate the pop-up menu. Select Add to StartUp.

Click Search Zome Maneger/Shedule button to set Schedule of updating current Search Zone. The Sleuthhound! may updated Search Zone every day, week or month that you need. By default Search Zone will update every week.



If you have a lot of non-structured notes The Sleuthhound! can help you regulate the notes. Usually the notes are text files, clips and pastes that contain similar information.

First set The Sleuth-hound! on the folders with your notes. Give the Search Zone a name e.g. My Notes. Instantly, you have an easy way to organize loose notes and other odds and ends, because you can find your notes by the best criteria - by the text.

Add note description
Advanced users can organize the notes with a special description header added into note. Insert in the header the relevant information about the note: date, author, theme etc. After completing this task, set The Sleuthhound! onto the folders with headers in the notes. The Sleuthhound! memorizes both the text and the headers of the notes. You can find a group of notes by keywords from header. This unique quality of The Sleuthhound! transforms the scattered notes into small data base engine.
